Always loved that one, but here's a recent favourite of mine: Then there's this one which actually came up in one of my university exams... The answer is actually a^(n) + (nC1)a^(n-1)b + (nC2)a^(n-2)b^(2) + ..... + (nCn-2)a^(2)b^(n-2) + (nCn-1)ab^(n-1) + b^n
or to simplify it with x = a & y = b:
Damn it, university's fucked me up. This guy's answer is much better than the actual one.
