Do you know something. Since I heard about Scream. I never have seen one movie of the films they have done. I only have watched action based with horror movies like Alien vs Predator and Freddy Vs Jason so it's them two I really enjoyed the most.

I can never really get into them sorts of films. Well, I did enjoy Freddy versus Jason 'cause I always hav nerdgasms for Nightmare on Elm Street.
The Scream films are more of a parady of the slasher genre as opposed to horror films really. It was originally called 'Scary Movie', which is where the Scary Movie franchise now gets its name.

Scary Movie was a parody, and a joke of one at that, but I really don't think Scream (with the exception of maybe the third one) goes so far as to turn itself into a comedy. I'm certainly not saying they are scary. The "horror" part of the movies were just there as a vehicle for the lampooning of horror cliche's. That being said, I've loved all of them so far. I have yet to see the fourth one, but I'm excited.

It is supposed to be scary, but it was intended to be a parody. The 'rules' are there so you know what's going to happen and there are other indications. Like the film in the film is called 'Stab', which is a stupid and generic name for a film, which was intentional.

Yeah, but in my eyes to be a parody, a movie must, at it's base, be a comedy. While there were funny premises, but at it's base it was a horror movie. I look at it as less of a horror parody, and more of a horror film that doesn't take itself seriously.

As far as favorite scary movies, I'm torn between Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and In The Mouth of Madness.
As far as Scream, the base of the franchise is a horror comedy with its self-referential humor, but not quite a parody since it doesn't directly spoof off any particular movie (even if it does take note of plenty). The movie can stand alone.
