His ears had perked at the small noise that had been birthed behind the large door beside him, his attention grasped cruelly from his book as he directed his eyes away, peering in a wash of annoyance. This had been the first time in days he had had a chance to sit alone and read, and now, someone was here – demanding his attention again? He sighed heavily, commanding his body to pull up from the chair he had been sitting on as his long legs hauled him slowly toward the door, the book only to be thrown harshly back into the chair he had been seated in a moment ago.
Jamie’s eyes met coolly with Jack, a smirk only to walk across his thin lips as his attention was drawn to the chocolates and flowers in which he held.
