A/N : Yeah, it blows ass….but I’ve had a shit week, so stick it up yours
You’re Sadly Mistaken, Sir
Former World Champion, Yes
Former member of one of the most dominant factions in the FWF, Yes
Talented competitor, Yes
The Devil?
No Sir, That you are wrong about.
Because I
Am
THE DEVIL
X=¿R?=X
[Out of Mind Experience]
I let the breath leave my lungs slowly, and began to pack my gym bag. Genesis, as usual, went off without a hitch for the FWF. And, as usual, I’d come out on top in my Genesis match. And to make it all the sweeter, it was against that pain in my ass James Bohne.
It brought a feeling of peace, having beat him as decisively as I had. Most of the match, I dominated. And I nailed my new finisher, Faithless to end the match. I smiled slightly to myself, the Vertebreaker was a dangerous enough move by itself, but adding a spin to it not only caused the victim to be less prepared for the impact, with their senses thrown off, but it also upped the chance for injury.
I felt my smile fade at the last part. Had I really just thought that? I’m not out to injure anybody, not even James Bohne. Sure, if anyone deserved to be crippled, it was Bohne. The man put me through mental, emotional, and physical hell for a part of my career. Even when we were tag partners, I despised the man.
You can take someone out of the wWo, but you can’t take the wWo out of anyone.
I lean back into the wall, and exhale slowly again. My face contorts lightly as a twinge comes up my neck, and to the base of my skull again. The headaches had been coming more and more frequently lately. I’d chalked it up to age, and all the fights finally catching up to me. I mean, sure, I was only 28, but for this profession, especially a high flyer slash technical brawler like myself, that was getting toward retirement age.
Especially when you’ve had as many injuries as I have. Broken ribs, I’ve broken my left leg twice, had countless concussions, torn ACL’s, almost every part of my body had put me in the hospital by this point in my career.
A soft wrapping upon the door brought me back to reality, and from my musings. It took me a split second, but then I spoke.
Matthew “The Raven” Knox
Come in!
The door opened, and, as I half expected, Linda Myles poked her head in, smiling. She was wearing make up, and her hair was pulled into a neat bun. Her petite figure was adorned in a fitting black dress. It was obvious that Genesis had called for her to dress for the occaison.
Linda Myles
Matthew! I was wondering if you could spare time for another interview? The card for Livewire has been handed out, and, well, you know, never too early to get your opinion out there.
I smiled friendlily at her, and nodded.
Matthew “The Raven” Knox
Sure thing Linda
Linda Myles
Alright, be back in twenty!
Matthew “The Raven” Knox
Wait, Linda!
She stopped her exit, and poked her head back in
Matthew “The Raven” Knox
Who’s my opponent?
Linda Myles
Oh! It’s The Devil
I nodded, then shook my head as she disappeared, and the door shut. I swear, it was almost as if these interviews decided who won the matches.
I shook that nonsensical musing from my mind, and looked around the room again. Astryd had left maybe thirty minutes ago, to rest at the Hotel room, and call home to check up on Ivy and Hope. The smile returned to my face, broader this time. Fatherhood, while not entirely new to me thanks to Hope, was very odd. Yet, also very enjoyable. Every move Ivy made fascinated her. The way she walked, her fascination with the most menial of things.
It was all just too amazing.
The pain came back suddenly, from the base of my neck, this time, more than a twinge. My face contorted into a silent scream as exquisite, white, hot pain flashed through my head. I slammed my fist into the wall, biting down hard upon my lower lip.
The world went black then. There would be no interview, let alone recollection of this night[/center][/i]
